Yes, we did survive and many of us look back with gratitude, love and respect for the life we were given in our new country.

It's an interesting reflection on what philanthropic intentions can create. It's also an amazing story of survival of identity.

How lucky we are and how much we take for granted. For those with happy endings you were lucky and fortunate. To those who were mistreated and suffered abuse and psychological damage my heart cries for you - you deserved so much more. You are true survivors and for that at least you may feel pride.

I feel quite fortunate to have avoided the hardships these children were faced with.
