We found the exhibition to be very moving. Our father Arthur Thomas Goodwin came to Australia in 1926 aged 14 years on P&O Ballarat. He was brought out by Barnardo’s and went to the Hunter Valley where he eventually married and was highly regarded by all who knew him.

Tony a former child migrant:UK~~~NZ. I am represted in the exhibition with my film."The Boy in the Lifebuoy" Now living back in England in my birth town...I am able to view the good messages offered by visiters to our child migration site online: I am very appy for all the kind comments by those that are new to our saga & those that knew of us and other FCM's. Its very heart warming being now so far away and unable to visit the exhibition to keep abreast of the nostalgic interest of so many. Thankyou. Australia maritime staff also. It's hard to believe what kids went through all of those years ago, and it's sad how the way they were treated.

So very sad and enlightening in many ways. To those whose journey led to better lives you're so very lucky but to those whose lives had no end to the grief of leaving your family and endured more hardship I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to all of you. We emigrated here 2 years ago for a 'better life.' We achieved that but for all of you so young so very brave and courageous I'm so sorry.

I think that it was really sad how the British children had to come to Australia to work so much. Great exhibition!
