'RMS Orion'

framed painting of a ship

A contemporary of the P&O liner Strathmore, the Orient Line’s 'Orion' carried the new colour scheme of corn-coloured hull and buff funnel. Following its launch in 1935, 'Orion' set new standards in passenger comfort as the first British ship to feature air conditioning in its dining rooms.

Oil on board Frank Norton 1936. ANMM collection.
